I’m interested! Now what?
You’re interested in joining the Wheel of Time RP? Wonderful! Before you head over to the Join Form, here are a few points to consider.
Is the Wheel of Time RP right for you?
As a creative writing community, we welcome people of all ages, genders, religions, cultures, and so on and so forth. We’re an international group, so it doesn’t matter if you’re from New York or Oslo or Sydney. But there are a few things that you should know before joining the site.
Do you like writing fiction?
If your answer is ‘yes,’ you’re on the right track! The WoT RP is a creative writing community with a focus on quality fiction. You can be any level of writer to join, so long as you have a desire to grow and improve your writing abilities and have fun in the process.
The Wheel of Time’s the name of the game…
All of our writing takes place in the Wheel of Time world, and follows the guidelines laid out within it. You should have read at least the first three books in the Wheel of Time series, and if you haven’t read them all, be prepared for some spoilers! Writing must also follow the guidelines laid out on this site. They’re mostly common sense things, but it is very important to us that these guidelines are followed. Unfortunately, we don’t accept fiction, poetry, or prose relating to subjects outside of the Wheel of Time.
Writing takes effort.
Our minimum posting requirements depend on how long you’ve been with us, but everyone starts out writing 300 words per post. Other writing requirements which need to be completed to advance in rank are significantly longer. We’re a hobby site, but we do also expect certain amounts of activity from our members. Before joining, you should be able to commit at least an hour or two per week to writing, as a bare minimum. (Though if you ever need to take a break from the site for travel, exam periods, busy work months, etc., we completely understand!)
Characters are everything.
Our characters are end all be all of what we’re doing at the site. When you create a character, they’re yours for good. There are also limitations on the number of characters you can create, because we want people to focus on and develop their current characters instead of running around with too much to do. Before you join, think carefully about what kind of character you want to write for.
Ready to make some friends?
Okay, it sounds a bit cheesy, but you’re going to make some awesome friends at the site, so be prepared! Some administrators and long-time members have been friends for over ten years now, and met through a RPing site just like this one. People have met their spouses (albeit a little indirectly) through the site, and have found roommates, travel buddies, partners, BFFs, and kindred spirits. Once you join, there’s no turning back. ;)
