New boards

Posted in Boards, Joni's Updates, New Stuff on June 8th, 2011 by Joni

Hello everyone!

It is my pleasure to announce that we have two new boards for you to post on: the OOC Lesson Board and a brand-spankin’-new MRP Board . These boards are now open for all sections. They are fairly self explanatory; the OOC LB is for lesson announcements and updates, questions, requests, etc. (Though if you have a message, question, or request for just one person or your teacher, we recommend email.) The MRP Board is for your major role-plays (bet you didn’t see that one coming!), as we feel they are similar to raisings in the sense that they deserve their own space to unfold. Site navigation has been updated to accommodate our new boards too, and has been updated in a nice new order to suit my OCD fashions. ;)

Happy posting everyone!

Updates to joining process

Posted in Joni's Updates, Site Updates on March 28th, 2011 by Joni

Hi everyone,

Well, it’s been a bit frustrating in the last month or so to have our join form on the fritz. Hopefully those of you who have been applying for new characters haven’t been lost in the shuffle somewhere! If you have sent in a join form and haven’t heard back from myself or another Officer, you should resubmit it or get in touch with one of us.

We’ve been on the hunt for a third party hosting service for online forms, and finally came across a great free one that we are now using for join forms. It’s called “Email Me Form,” and while the forms it generates are pretty simple in appearance, they’re reliable! Even better is that it can send out automatic confirmations so that you know your form was submitted. These new join forms—yes, forms, each section has their own join form again—are all ready to go on the joining page.

Last but not least, each section leader is now responsible for the join forms & new characters in their section. This means that joining inquiries can be sent to Jeremy regarding novices, Bri regarding Gaidin in Training, and Taryn regarding Pattern Societies. Questions about reinstating old characters should still be sent to myself and the relevant section leader (hey, I need something to do, right?!).

So rest assured that the joining process should now be a bit smoother for everyone. Bring on those new recruits! :)

Vote on GiT rank titles!

Posted in Characters, Joni's Updates, Site Updates on February 7th, 2011 by Joni

Hello WoT RPers!

The Officers have been discussing a few reforms to the writing requirements in the Training Grounds, and to go with that, we’d like to get your opinion on Gaidin in Training rank titles and what you think they should be. We’ve come up with a few different options, and would appreciate it greatly if you could help us out and vote.

Go vote on Gaidin in Training rank titles!

The voting form will stay open until Friday, February 18, at 11:45 pm (PST), so be sure you have had your say before that time. You will need a password to get into the form, which has been emailed to the address you use for the boards.

We look forward to announcing the winning set of rank titles soon!

Update: We’re blown away by your responses! Almost everyone has been able to respond, so we’re closing the voting early. If you haven’t completed the form, you now have until Friday, February 11 at 11:45 pm instead.

Two new boards!

Posted in Boards, Joni's Updates, New Stuff on January 22nd, 2011 by Joni

Hi everyone!

A little birdie told me that some of you novices have been doing very well in your lessons—so well, in fact, that it sounds like there will be a few raisings shortly. As such, we’ve created two new boards: the Accepted Lesson Board and the Raising Board. They’re up and open for posting.

A few things to remember about who can use these boards:

  • The Accepted Lesson Board: Accepted attending classes or pursuing independent studies, and Aes Sedai who are teaching lessons. Other full rank characters (namely Gaidin and Asha’man) do of course on occasion teach lessons, and will also be able to post on this board once the lesson has been authorized by the Mistress of Novices.
  • The Raising Board: This board is for all sections and ranks—novices, Accepted, and Trainees gaining merit badges. However, an Officer will always post a “starter” post for your raising (except in certain cases, where you will receive permission to start without one of us), so please wait for us before beginning your raising string. Please note that post title formatting on this board should be kept to an absolute minimum; we understand that your raising is important, but if you use too much bold & italics, it means that someone else’s raising doesn’t look as important, which sucks for them. Officers will remove excess formatting without notice.

I look forward to announcing some raisings soon!

WordPress updated

Posted in Boards, Joni's Updates, Site Updates on August 6th, 2010 by Joni

Hi everyone!

Just thought you might like a little bit of warning: I’ve updated WordPress to the 3.0 version, and it’s now a nice sleek light grey version. Everything should still work exactly the same, however!

One nice new feature of WP 3.0 is that you can easily and quickly get a short link to your post. Simply click “Edit” at the bottom of your post, log in, and at the top of the editing page you will see a “Get short link” button just under the title text box. I don’t really know what relevance it might have, but I do have a feeling it’ll save us some time in the long run. So thanks, WordPress!

As always, if you have any questions about our WordPress system, simply email me at joni (at) wheeloftimerp.net. :)

A new Within the Wheel board

Posted in Boards, Joni's Updates on July 21st, 2010 by Joni

I’m happy to announce that we now have a Within the Wheel board! This means that any adventuring you might do outside of Tar Valon can now take place off of the White Tower board. Remember that this is only for characters who are allowed out of the White Tower… sorry, novices. ;)

Let the fun commence!
