Talents
Talents and traits are special abilities that Wheel of Time characters possess. Talents are more common than Traits, and are also more commonly possessed by channeling characters. Read the below sections for more information on these abilities.
Talents — Traits
Talents
Talents are abilities with the One Power that a character possesses. These skills are not related to their strength in channeling the True Source, but to their innate strengths and elemental affinities. Some Talents are learnable and usable by almost every channeler, and some are only inborn with extreme rarity. Other Talents have only begun to resurface in recent years due to the Pattern’s proximity to Tarmon Gai’Don. Most channelers only posses two innate Talents, but can learn some of the simpler ones over time.

It should be noted that extremely rare Talents such as Dreaming, Viewing, Foretelling, and so forth are not listed here. Because these Talents are so rare, little is known about them, and what is known is closely guarded by the White Tower.
Talents
Talents are special abilities that channelers have, usually related to their use of the One Power. Most Talents will not surface in channelers until they have used saidar or saidin for several years, and they are recognized by a channeler’s affinity to certain types of weaves. Other Talents are inborn, and will surface without training.
Some Talents—usually the simpler, common ones—can be learned after many decades of practice, though those with learned Talents do not have the same strength as those who had them from the beginning of their training.
Since the Age of Legends, many Talents have been lost as the ability to channel waned from the population. However, due to the recent growth in the channeling population, some Talents have resurfaced in the Pattern, such as Dreaming, the making of ter’angreal and cuendillar, and Traveling. The Wheel of Time RP uses all of these Talents, old and new.
Traits
Traits are very similar to Talents, but are not necessarily related to the One Power. They are special abilities that a person has, which usually surface around the same time as one would begin to channel (shortly after puberty). Some can be learned.
Some Talents are very similar to Traits, and vice versa, but for administrative purposes we have decided to separate the two.
