Physical Description
Vogue is slender with long legs and arms. She has mousey light brown hair pulled back in Two Rivers style braid or her favorite style is twin braids. When its not braided, it flows to her waist, in a soft thin wave. Her eyes are steel blue unlike everyone from Darren Hill. Her father had come from Caemlyn, or so he said, and Cainie and Vogue had inherited their blue colored eyes. Vogue’s eyes were darker than her sister’s. Only people who really looked could tell the differences in the twins. Vogue is good about blending into the background. She remains quiet in crowds, and tends to be alone or in the stables. She hopes one day to be the Master of Horse. She is good with the bow and tracking. When she does speak she is very straight forward most of the time. The biggest reason Vogue avoids crowds is her ability to Read Auras. Most often it makes her sick and nauseated with so many swirling colors. However, after learning The Flame and the Void, she was able to relax and control the auras, somewhat. At least they became very muted.
Biography
Vogue grew up on the outskirts of Daren Hill. Her father raised horses and every year would travel to Baerlon for the market. As long as Vogue could remember she and her sister always went with him. Their mother would stay home and tend the farm in their absence. The last fair that Vogue remembered attending was when she was around 13 summers old. She refused to go with her father; she loved the horses and worked well with them however she dreaded the fair. Her sister was taken to Tar Valon by an Aes Sedai that fair time. She worried that the Aes Sedai would find her and her abilities too. Cainie had promised to not reveal her ability to anyone. She wrote to Cainie every time she got and sent them with the merchants. Her letters always came back unopened.
Vogue blamed the witches for taking her sister away. They were twins and did everything together, but that fateful day took that all away. Vogue never left the farm anymore; she only went to Daren Hill once a month. She hated the stares from the locals. Everyone avoided her. Her time to braid her hair came and went unnoticed. She had never been the pretty twin with her mousy brown hair and steel blue eyes. Her sister had had beautiful dark brown hair and sky blue eyes. Cainie had always been outgoing and flirting with the boys. Vogue, with her abilities, never liked crowds. She despised all the swirling colors and sparks and images. It was a constant headache for her. The villagers suspected she was different because she would always know who would marry and when someone was with child before they knew. The Wisdom had tried to get her as an apprentice, but Vogue refused. It had always been easier with the horses. Vogue was always socially awkward. She stumbled on her words and never knew the correct etiquette. That had always been Cainie’s job.
Only one other person had made her feel comfortable. Jehmy, her childhood playmate and sweetheart, had always been there when Cainie was not. Jehmy had been the only one to notice she went from child to woman. His parents had frowned on him being with her. They never approved of the union, which is why they didn’t marry. Vogue just accepted his presence and would look forward to seeing him. With Jehmy she was able to block out the auras, she would retreat into a calm state and relax.
Nearing her 18th summer, Cainie came back to Darren Hill. Vogue couldn’t believe. She was excited and thrilled to have her other half returned. However, the people of Darren Hill didn’t agree so much. They’d come to the farm with fire and pitchforks. They called Cainie and her darkfriends. They wanted the Tar Valon witch to burn and her sister with her. Vogue couldn’t believe her ears, after all the years she lived here the whole town turned against her. Vogue and her sister ran, Cainie lagged behind to stop the villagers. Vogue made it to the stables and started to get their horses together. She heard a scream. Cainie came into the barn, a knife in her side. Vogue gasped. Cainie told her she needed to go to Tar Valon. Find out about her visions. Cainie had made her promise that she would go and find help with the Aes Sedai. Vogue did so reluctantly. As soon as Vogue was in the saddle, the horse spooked, rearing on his hind legs. It took off in a gallop, barreling through the villagers.
Vogue couldn’t slow the stallion down; she looked over her shoulder, seeing the barn flair up in flames. Her heart ached and she knew. She knew her sister was dead. Tear flowed down her cheeks as she continued down her knew thread in life. The wheel weaves. . . .
Finally, Vogue had made it to the Tower. Through several mishaps and Vogue impersonating her sister, she ended up in the Tower cells for a few weeks upon her arrival. It wasn’t until a Yellow Aes Sedai was talking with her and found out about her abilities. She ended up in the Yellow wing for even longer as they studied her. During times they weren’t asking her questions, she found herself wandering either to the stable or the training grounds. She never thought about being an Gaidin until one approached her about the idea. The more she stayed in Tar Valon, the more she wanted to train. She was always good at hunting squirrels and deer back in Darren Hill. She couldn’t go back to Darren Hill, and she had no where else to go. So she approached the Master of Arms and signed up into the ranks. It was rare for women to train, but definitely not forbidden.
