Physical Description

Brileia Narelleva has always been different from the rest of her family, whether they took notice of it or not. The youngest of four, she is the only one to take after their mother in build, petite and delicate with silky, black tresses swaying about her slender waist. Her almond-shaped eyes are a bluish-green in hue, unlike any of her immediate family and giving credence to the belief that Saldaeans had exotic and alluring eyes. To outward observers, Brileia is a young, well-behaved woman, who radiates an aura of serenity and solemnity. However, she is so much more than that, and hides her true self quite well. With a singular devotion to her cause, Brileia allows nothing to distract her from her studies, and by choice, has remained solitary and apart from others.

Biography

The youngest daughter of Saldaean merchant Baneor Narelleva and his wife Dorain, Brileia has always been provided with the necessities in life. Despite being the baby and adored by her father and siblings alike, her mother never allowed her to be spoiled, making her earn whatever special items caught her fancy.

As a small child, Brileia was bright and bubbly, as well a very loving child. Ureil, her oldest brother, was her favorite person to be around. He was a member of the Saldaean guards, often taking trips into the Blight with his battalion as well as having guard duty within the vast watchtowers. He was often called away for weeks at a time, and yet always had time for her. He never turned her away and took his time to teach her many things, including how to use daggers. Unlike the rest of her family, Ureil was protective of his sister, but not overly so. She has two other siblings as well, a brother Kanil ( who has been groomed to take over the family business ) and a sister, Calelin, who is already married to one of the Borderland guards, Ruar Taldinil.

When she was about eight years old, her family had a picnic close to the Arinelle River outside of the city. Wandering a bit further from her family along with Kanil, Brileia accidentally came across a wild wolf and was attacked. The wolf raked her side and bit into her arm, dragging her a few feet before her brother could stop it. Baneor and Uriel heard her pained screams, and ran to her aid. Uriel killed the wolf easily, and brought back the carcass to be skinned for its fur. The fur was made into a rug that was subsequently placed before the fireplace in the family home’s main room as a memento. Brileia survived her ordeal, managing to escape with faint scars and a few memories.

After the attack, Brileia made a concerted effort to train hard with the weapons that her parents taught her to use, often coaxing Ureil into teaching her more than a girl was supposed to know about weapons and the Blight. Under his tutelage, she gained some skill with twin daggers as well as a small bow that he made for her as a secret present one year. When she was twelve years old, Ureil went out with a battalion of soldiers into the Blight after a horde of Trollocs and did not return alive. At the loss of her brother, she became more withdrawn and studious. She was already hard-working before, but now she rarely stopped for anything fun. As she matured, Brileia began to notice how worried her family was for her, and so began to hide the changes in her personality under a guise of serenity. With her family easily fooled, she was able to continue with her private training, especially with her brother’s quarterstaff that she secretly hid away after his death.

Although perfectly willing to fight, her family wasn’t so keen on letting her be involved. And to the effect, Dorain and Calelin began to take up Brileia’s time with learning various womanly pursuits. Although she found this to be interesting, Brileia could not be dissuaded from her, and secretly rebelled against this, wanting to make a difference in the world in any way that she can. Having lost her brother to the Shadowspawn that inhabited the Blight, she made a vow to avenge her brother’s death in whatever way she could manage, seeking the ultimate destruction of the Shadowspawn.

However many plans she made for her goal, she ended up discarding them as not good enough. And then her planning ended up being postponed due to a rather significant discovery by a passing Aes Sedai. It was discovered that Brileia had the ability to channel the One Power. So, with her ultimate goal in mind, she traveled to Tar Valon in the company of an Aes Sedai to join the White Tower.
